In June of 1998, the East Jordan Iron Works will be opening the new hydrant and valve division as the first occupant in the new park. Industry is very crucial to the success of the town. Home to the family-owned East Jordan Iron Works, the region’s largest employer, East Jordan is also known as the industrial hub of Charlevoix County featuring several other industries, including Burnette Foods (also family owned), providing well over a thousand jobs. East Jordan is proud of its very progressive school system (a new middle school was dedicated in 1997) and excellent medical services available at the East Jordan Family Health Center, a number of medical professionals are choosing to locate their practices in the community.
