Saint Johns, Michigan Saint Johns is was organized in 1853 by John Swegles and Rev. C. A. Lamb who along with state officials came to the area to speculate on land, since the Detroit & Milwaukee Railroad proposed building a line through the area. The "Saint" was reference to Rev. Lamb’s efforts and the "Johns" from Swegle’s first name. It was incorporated into a village in 1857. It became a city in 1904. |
