Welcome to the City of New Carlisle, Ohio. This is a small town with a population of 5,735 people. It is located on the outskirts of Springfield, on the southwestern section of Clark County, right on the banks of Honey Creek. Springfield is the closest community to New Carlisle and in many ways, New Carlisle has become one of the bedroom communities that serve Springfield. It is an easy commute into the larger city, and Springfield offers residents of New Carlisle big city amenities without the big city amenities. Springfield, is the governmental seat of Clark County. The surrounding terrain is relatively flat accentuated by rolling hills. Prehistoric mound builders were probably the first residents of Clark County. Traces of their structures can still be found in nearby Enon where the second largest conical mound, the Knob Prairie Mound can be found. The Springfield Museum of Art has a permanent collection of 19th & 20th century American and European art and traveling loan exhibitions monthly. The Springfield Museum of Art provides art classes in drawing, painting, pottery and sculpture for children and adults. The Museum also sponsors lectures and workshops. The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is the cultural pride of the area and one of Springfield's greatest assets. Music Director John E. Ferritto conducts 80 of the area's finest professional musicians, as well as internationally renowned artists, in a five-concert subscription series that includes classical concerts, an annual holiday program and one pops show. These programs reach over 4,500 students in the city and county elementary schools. During the summer months, the SSO presents free, small ensemble concerts on the front lawn of the Springfield Museum of Art and the Kaleidoscope Orchestra Camp for young musicians. C.J. Brown Dam And Reservoir/Buck Creek State Park: The state park, with 3,651 acres, offers a variety of recreational, cultural and natural resources for you to enjoy. You will find picnic shelters, nature trails and a restored native prairie. The Crabill House, built around 1830, is managed by the Clark County Historical Society. The 2,120-acre lake provides water skiing, fishing, swimming and a beach house. The George Rogers Clark Park was established as a state park in 1930 and is the site of the largest battle in the Revolution west of the Alleghenies. It covers 248 acres of green meadows, shade trees and scenic waterways, providing fishing without a license at Hosterman Lake, hiking, picnicking and non-motorized boating. There is plenty of real estate available for those looking to move here. A great variety of single-family homes are currently on the market.
