In 1892 the developers of Webster Park, an affluent community which would soon become the City Of Webster Groves, promoted the new community as the "Queen Of The Suburbs," offering residents superb housing options in a country-like atmosphere, as well as a swift commute to downtown Saint Louis jobs. Webster University shares space with the Opera Theater of St. Louis and the Repertory Theater of St. Louis formerly known as the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts. Old Orchard, named after the orchards that once adorned the farms that stood before settlers journeyed from St. Louis, is a popular and scenic place to shop. Browse through a number of diverse stores, satisfy your appetite at one of Old Orchard's many appealing restaurants, or relax in the gazebo in the center of the park.
